Hey Sis!

On paper, my name is Natalie Janine Gates. Most people call me Janine or Janny. I am also known as UnapologeticallyThrive on Instagram. OWWEEE, yer girl got a lot of names. HAHA!

Thank you for visiting my site. It is nice to virtually meet you! Before you explore, I would like to introduce myself!

I’m a dog mom to Daisy, who is a Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Poodle, and Terrier mix. We enjoy exploring nature and cuddling together. I also love to work out, drive (I’ve always wanted to be a race car driver), bake, dance, read, and unapologetically thrive. I was not born thriving. I had to learn how to do so. I would like to share my tips and experiences to help you unapologetically thrive and truly love yourself.

I began my unapologetically thriving journey while attending Spelman College. I will never forget when my counselor essentially said I was “inauthentic” and “needed to figure out who I was.”

The things I said to myself:

“Ohhh Chile.”

“Excuse me?”

“What do you mean?”

I was SHOOK and she was right.

I was living for everyone else and didn’t know who I was. From that day forward, I began figuring out who I was, what I enjoyed doing, and what I wanted from my life. I wish from day one we were taught we only have one life and we must live (it) for ourselves! Wull, that is not the case for most of us and thankfully, it is never too late to discover or change who we are.

Around 2016, I started to religiously document my health and fitness journey on Instagram. Then one day, I realized I was more than my physical health and needed to discuss all of me – my experiences as a foster child, people pleaser, recovering from low self-esteem, PCOS, relationships, and whatever else I was/am dealing with. I am a recovering closed book and blogging on Instagram and public speaking has helped me share my life openly.

Sis, thank you so much for visiting my site. I am thrilled to share my journey with and get to know you. Again, we are in this together! Lastly, do not ever hesitate to contact me here or on Instagram.
